Updated: July 5th, 2021

The Park Hyatt Aviara just underwent a $50 Million dollar renovation that was completed in September 2021. The reimagined Park Hyatt Aviara now features two fresh dining concepts, two transformed pools, reimagined guest rooms and more.

The Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club and Spa is located in Carlsbad California, which is just outside of San Diego. Perhaps one of the most notable things about the Park Hyatt Aviara is the physical location and surroundings of this beautiful resort. The Park Hyatt Aviara is perched high up on a ridge that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. And the views are absolutely stunning. The Park Hyatt Aviara Resort and Spa is a Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond luxury destination. And the resort is just close enough to San Diego but far enough away for a relaxing and unique experience.

This review is based on our personal stay in July of 2021. And don’t forget, if you are planning to stay at Park Hyatt Aviara, book through Live Luxe Travel Co. to take advantage of exclusive Hyatt Privé benefits like a confirmed room upgrade (if available, confirmed within 24 hours of booking), $100 resort credit, daily breakfast and a welcome amenity. The Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Spa & Golf Club

If you are looking for a luxury, home away from home, then the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa might just be the answer. This all encompassing resort has plenty of things to do, places to eat and luxury amenities. This romantic and charming Spanish-style resort has a bit of colonial flare. And another appealing aspect of this resort is they are completely pet-friendly. Madi definitely appreciated that!

Upon our arrival at the Park Hyatt Aviara we were quickly greeted by a bell-men and assisted with our luggage and getting checked-into the resort.

Our Room

The resort is a fairly large property with just over 327 guest rooms. And the hotel is quite spread out with big long hallways. That' might be one of our only complaints. But you’ll at least get some exercise each day nonetheless.

During our stay at the Park Hyatt Aviara we stayed in one of the Pool Suites. This elegant space spans 855 square feet and boasts two furnished terraces overlooking the pool and resort grounds. The suite includes one king bed, separate living room, sleeper sofa, half bath and a marble bath with dual vanity sinks, a soaking tub, and shower.

The rooms are very California luxury meets costal-chic. The rooms were very functional and feature all the modern amenities like a night light that turns on automatically when you get out of bed, charge ports including USB’s by the bed and chrome cast on the TV.

The Pool Suite had plenty of natural light coming in from the big sliding door. Since the resort sits so high up on a ridge, the view from our room was incredible! The private balcony was a very nice place to rest and take in the view.

Park Hyatt Hotels & Resorts feature Le Labo products, which if you didn’t know happen to be our favorite hotel toiletries.

Dining

The Park Hyatt Aviara has 5 restaurants plus 24-hour room-service on property. During our stay we had the opportunity to eat at 2 of the restaurants. Ponto Lago, is the newest restaurant at Park Hyatt Aviara. Immerse yourself into a refined modern setting featuring local Baja-inspired cuisine and specialty cocktails composed of mezcal and tequila. Enjoy a show kitchen allowing you to get an inside look behind the scenes bringing Chef's creations to center stage. We had breakfast and dinner here and both were excellent.

We eat at a lot of great restaurants around the globe and Ponto Lago ranked high on our list of the best California/Baja cuisine.

For breakfast we dined at Ponto Lago which has an amazing terrace that yield great views during breakfast. Breakfast is offered buffet style or order off the menu. We’d highly recommend the Beef Birria Benedict and the French Toast.

During our stay we also had the opportunity to dine at Ember & Rye which is located down on the golf course. This restaurant by Chef Richard Blais offers delectable steaks and seafood dishes rooted in fine local ingredients and served in a casually elegant space.

We tried so many of the dishes that we aren’t certain which one we liked the best!

Amenities

The Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa doesn’t lack for things to do and amenities to enjoy. You’ll find everything from a fitness center to two gorgeous outdoor pools, a game room, the luxurious spa and of course a world-class golf course.

The main pool is very secluded in the back of the resort with the same fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean. There is also an adults only pool which was very relaxing. Both of the pools are heated and have plenty of lounge chairs to soak up the sun.

The Aviara Spa features 15,000 square feet of space, 20 treatment rooms, an indoor solarium lounge, whirlpools, saunas and steam rooms. During our stay we enjoyed the facilities before and after a peppermint massage & back scrub. And the massage & back scrub was heavenly!

The indoor solarium lounge was a nice place to go relax as it was the perfect temperature and had plenty of natural daylight.

Since we have been traveling so much here lately, we really make a conscious effort to try to be active when we are away from home. The Fitness Center at the Park Hyatt Aviara had plenty of cardio equipment, machines and free weights to garner a great workout. The fitness center is on the smaller side for as large as the resort was. And it did feel crowded at times.

Service

The service is what you would expect it to be at a 5-Star Resort, and that is the case at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort & Spa. The service at this AAA Five-Diamond and Forbes Five-Star luxury resort has always been good and that hasn’t changed.

Overall Impression

The Park Hyatt Aviara Resort & Spa is a beautiful resort with excellent views and excellent service. If you are looking for a Southern California escape, then this is the place to be. There are plenty of things to do close by from the beach to shopping and all that San Diego has to offer but when you return to the resort you are able to relax and enjoy.

Extra Perks

And don’t forget, when you book Andaz Maui with Live Luxe Travel Co., through our Hyatt Privé partnership, you’ll receive a $100 resort credit, daily breakfast for two, a room upgrade and a welcome amenity.
