Park Hyatt Chicago Review

Our Verdict

The iconic Park Hyatt Chicago reopened in July after a $60 million dollar renovation. The reimagined hotel unveiled 146 redesigned guestroom and 36 suites, a new art program from local artists, and updates to its signature restaurant, NoMI and spa.

Park Hyatt Chicago is quintessentially Chicago with a landmark address just steps from historic Water Tower Park and famed Michigan Avenue. This residential oasis is the perfect place for global travelers seeking an authentic downtown experience. This luxurious home-away-from-home embraces the local elements of the surrounding city while offering a urban escape.

Park Hytt Chicago

Having previously stayed at Park Hyatt Chicago back in 2019 before the rennovation, there was a lot to love about this iconic hotel including the location, the service, the incredible views, NoMI Kitchen, Lounge and Garden, NoMI Spa, the indoor pool and the fitness center. The only thing that was lacking were the rooms felt a little dated.

Following their recent transformation, we weren’t even sure this was the same hotel. The rooms have been completely reimagined so much so that they are unrecognizable from before. The urban oasis in the heart of Downtown Chicago is the perfect home-base to explore the city from. Whether you’re looking for a weekend relaxing and not really leaving the hotel or a place of solitude after a day spent shopping on Michigan Ave, Park Hyatt Chicago is the place to stay in the Windy City.

From the moment you arrive at Park Hyatt Chicago, you will be greeted by the friendly smiling staff who is ready and eager to help with whatever you may need.

Our Room

For Chicago there are plenty of hotel choices, but none that provide quite the residential oasis and sophisticated luxury. During our stay we stayed in one of the reimagined suites, Lake Michigan Suite. This is a premium suite that marvels views of Lake Michigan from the window seat. The suite is a true one-bedroom suite with separate living room and bedroom.

The living room features a large sofa that is hiding a queen size bed, a tv, the mini-bar and a table suitable for working or dining. The newly reimagined rooms and suites have a very modern, understated luxury to them. They feature hardwood floors with area rugs, wood on the walls and lots of natural stone.

The bedroom features one king bed, a private spa-like bathroom with dual vanity, freestanding deep-soaking tub, rain shower and a walk-in closet.

The Lake Michigan Suite also features a second full bathroom with vanity, toilet and shower off the living room.

Park Hyatt Hotels & Resorts feature Le Labo products, which if you didn’t know happen to be our favorite hotel toiletries.

Dining

While Park Hyatt Chicago doesn’t have multiple dining outlets, they have one really great venue, NoMI Kitchen, Lounge and Garden.

The design of NoMI Lounge and Kitchen is elegant and simple featuring a completely open kitchen and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Michigan Avenue. And in the warmer months you can dine in the open air on the chic and vibrant NoMI Garden outdoor terrace.

Executive Chef Terence Zubieta’s menu features modern American Cuisine rooted in French techniques with local ingredients. During our stay we had dinner at NoMI Garden (order the sushi, you’ll thank us later) with of course a few cocktails enjoying a nice summer evening.

We also had the opportunity to eat breakfast at NoMI Kitchen. This is where breakfast is included for Hyatt Privé guests. For breakfast we had the usual American breakfast with bacon, eggs, and toast.

Amenities

Park Hyatt Chicago for being a city hotel, doesn’t lack when it comes to amenities. The living room in the lobby is the perfect place to sit and read the morning newspaper or enjoy a cup of coffee while reading a book.

Park Hyatt Chicago has an indoor swimming pool and hot tub located on 7th floor of the hotel. Along with the fitness center, and NoMI Spa.

Service

The service levels at Park Hyatt Chicago have always been fantastic, and exactly what you’d expect at a Park Hyatt Hotel. From the moment you pull up at the front drive, you’ll be greeted with a smile and service from the heart.

All of the staff that we encountered from front desk, to NoMI Kitchen, to NoMI Spa, everyone was so nice, friendly and accommodating.

And this hotel sure knows how to help you celebrate and make you feel welcome. Check out the welcome we received.

Overall Impression

Park Hyatt Chicago is your luxury oasis in the busy, hustling bustling city of Chicago. If you are looking for luxurious accommodations in a great location with plenty of amenities, this is the hotel for you. There are lots of things to do in Chicago just steps outside of the hotel.
